U.S. ORGANIZATIONS
NASA is a pioneer in peaceful space exploration
for the benefit of humanity, increasing our understanding of our planet
and universe. NASA organizes national and international space efforts,
and manages both the U.S. Space Shuttle and the International Space
Station programs. Budget information can be found at:

The central research and development organization for the Department of Defense.
Portal site for U.S. military information online.
Provides helpful links to MDA budget, projects, program history, and news.
NOAA provides and ensures timely access to global
environmental data from satellites and other sources to promote,
protect, and enhance the nation's economy, security, environment, and
quality of life.
NESDIS acquires and manages the NOAA satellites,
provides data and information services, and conducts related research.
The prime customer for the satellite data is NOAA's National Weather
Service, which uses satellite data to create forecasts for television,
radio, and weather advisory services.
The command and control center for U.S. strategic
forces. It controls military space operations, computer network
operations, and information operations, and prepares strategic warning
and intelligence assessments. It is also involved in global strategic
planning. The Command is responsible for both early warning of and
defense against missile attack and long-range conventional attacks.
The NGA (formerly NIMA) provides timely, relevant, and accurate Geospatial Intelligence in support of national security.
A U.S. Department of Defense Agency staffed by both DoD and CIA personnel.
INTERNATIONAL SPACE AGENCIES
Brazil's development center for meteorological, communications, and Earth observation satellites.
CSA manages all Canadian space efforts and ensures
that space science and technology provide social and economic benefits
for Canadians.
Europe's gateway to space. Its mission is to shape
the development of Europe's space capability and ensure that investment
in space continues to benefit the people of Europe. ESA has 15 member
states. By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its
members, it can undertake programs and activities far beyond the scope
of any single European country.
France's Center of Space Studies (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales – CNES) oversees all French activities in space.

German Aerospace Center (DLR)

The national Aerospace Research Center and Space Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany.
India's space agency. Main objectives are the
development of satellites, launch vehicles, sounding rockets, and
associated ground systems.
JAXA is Japan's main center for national satellite and rocket development, and promotion of peaceful use of space.
A central government agency under the Ministry of
Industry, Employment and Communications, responsible for national and
international activities relating to space and remote sensing,
primarily research and development.
A partnership of 10 government departments and research councils for the coordination of U.K. civil space activity.
The International Space Station program draws upon
the resources and the scientific and technological expertise of 16
cooperating nations, including the United States, Canada, Japan,
Brazil, Russia, and 11 member nations of the European Space Agency.
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs
(UNOOSA) is the U.N. office responsible for promoting international
cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space.
Information Concerning U.S. Transformational Communications Office (TCO)

The TCO will coordinate and direct the
implementation of a transformational communications architecture, an
integrated military communications network consisting of both new and
existing satellite and ground capabilities.
A U.S.-based trade association representing the
leading U.S. and international satellite service providers,
manufacturers, launch service companies, and ground equipment suppliers
throughout the world. The SIA is the unified voice of the commercial
satellite industry on policy, regulatory, and legislative issues
affecting the satellite community.
